REVISTA: KIDNEY DISEASE IN PHARMACY PRACTICE: AN APPROACH TO PATIENT-CENTERED CARE

Objetivos

At the conclusion of the activity, participants, should be able to

PHARMACISTS

1. Define what kidney disease is (acute and chronic).

2. Classify the stage of kidney disease based on the patient's medical history, physical examination, and laboratory values.

3. Identify the epidemiology of kidney disease and risk factors for the progression of the condition.

4. Recommend appropriate treatment for the management of acute kidney disease and appropriate management to delay the progression of chronic kidney disease by treating common comorbidities (hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia).

5. Explain the pathophysiology, treatment, and monitoring of common complications associated with the kidney disease condition (anemia, chronic kidney disease mineral and bone disorder (CKD-MBD), and electrolyte disorder).

6. Describe the development of a care plan to manage common complications seen in patients with chronic kidney disease.

7. Value the role of the pharmacist and pharmacy technician in the care of patients with kidney disease.
